The purpose and meaning of your job: This role is responsible for teaching and providing academic support to students in Ignite Colleges’ Healthcare programme. It involves providing students with innovative, motivational, supportive and high-quality learning experience. Training Specialist’s will demonstrate engaging and effective methods of course delivery, and participate in the development, review and moderation of course materials, and curriculum and assessment design, to enable graduate outcomes to be met and evidenced. Training Specialist’s will collaborate with colleagues and undertake personal self assessment, evaluation and review to maintain currency and relevancy of resource materials. Tutors will adopt appropriate modes of delivery to best suit the needs of the learners. Training Specialist’s will participate actively in consistency review events and collate the necessary evidence to ensure positive outcomes at these events. Key administrative tasks include the timely and accurate maintenance of student records and performance including attendance records, assessment results, progress reports, course outlines, moderation plans, referrals, and records in the SMS. Participation in programme promotional activities will be required from time to time.
Your key responsibilities: Teaching and Academic Support Key Activities: Key Performance Indicators: • Planning and delivering courses using effective teaching methods and materials that are appropriate to the students. • Ensuring course content is aligned with the Lesson Plan. • Preparing and/or adapting teaching materials for different delivery modes and ensuring that course delivery follows the delivery schedule. • Ensuring all assessments, including tests are completed as per the requirements of the course including marking, feedback, reassessment and rescheduling within required timeframes. • Reporting of course completions and student results, satisfaction, attendance and other data as required. • Providing academic support and assisting students to develop day to day work habits, life and social skills that will enhance their study outcomes and employability. • Dealing appropriately with individual leaner support needs including coordinating the referral and follow up of students to other support staff. • Offering advice to students on further learning and pathway opportunities. • Maintaining currency of knowledge and skills and undertaking agreed professional development activities. • Working collegially with other tutors and academic staff to ensure the programme is engaging, innovative and appealing to students. • Reporting programme outcomes and issues to the Programme Leader/Director of Academic Quality as appropriate. • Participating in relevant committee meetings and forums. • Course and tutor evaluations meet Ignite Colleges’ agreed targets. • Teaching methods and materials are aligned with the Lesson Plan. • Assessments conducted as per the schedule and proper procedures followed. • Assessment materials are valid and reliable and pass internal and external moderation. • 100% success on internal and external moderation. • Marking and feedback to students completed within set timeframes. • Students’ progress is monitored and reported. • Retention of students and course completions and qualifications gained. (EPI) targets are achieved • Agreed student satisfaction targets are achieved and students feel supported. • Agreed professional development has taken place. • Works collegially with other academic and Ignite Colleges staff members. • Makes a positive contribution to relevant academic forums and committees. • Designing valid and reliable assessments and marking guides that assess all learning outcomes on a unit/module. Your key responsibilities: Programme Development and Review Key Activities: Key Performance Indicators: • Ensuring all new course development and course changes are accurate, complete and submitted to the relevant Programme Committee in a timely and effective manner. • Managing the development and ensuring the accuracy and currency of course and student information, handouts and such resources required for effective delivery and marketing of the programme/s. • Overseeing internal and external moderation planning and processes as required by Ignite Colleges’ policy and participating as a member of the Moderation Committee. • Working with external stakeholders as required to develop and promote the programme • Course materials are current and compliant with all agency requirements (such as NZQA, TEC, ITOs) Moderation processes are compliant and meet agreed standards. • Promotional material regarding the overall programme is accurate to support the sales and marketing team Your key responsibilities: Programme Administration Key Activities: Key Performance Indicators: • Completing programme administration tasks accurately and in a timely manner. • Programme administration is kept up to date and completed within the agreed timeframes. • Checks completed to ensure policy and procedure is being followed. Other objectives: • Ensuring that course and class resources and users comply with occupational, health and safety standards at all times. • Attending health and safety training as required. • Attending all school events. • Participating in the Professional. • Development Programme agreed at staff appraisal What we value: At Skills, we are more than a team, we are a community.
