About the role:
Skills Institute is looking for an experienced Café Supervisor to lead our on-site training café in Wiri.
This permanent part-time role (25 hours per week, Monday–Thursday) is perfect for someone with café or hospitality leadership experience who enjoys developing others. You'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the café while mentoring Hospitality Level 3 and 4 students, helping them build the practical skills and confidence they'll need for successful careers in the industry.
What you'll be doing:
Supervise the day-to-day operation of our training café
Mentor and support hospitality students in a real-world café environment
Deliver exceptional customer service to staff, students, and visitors
Manage stock, ordering, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation
Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and Food Control Plan requirements
Support catering and special events while maintaining high service standards
What you'll bring:
Previous hospitality experience, ideally in a café environment
Experience leading or supervising a team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and café operations
Strong organisational skills with the ability to thrive in a busy environment
Barista experience would be an advantage
