Skills Institute is looking for an enthusiastic Youth Vocational Training Specialist to join our Lower Hutt campus in a full-time, 12-month fixed-term role.
Working with our Youth Guarantee learners, you'll create engaging learning experiences, provide academic and pastoral support, and help students develop the confidence and skills they need to achieve their qualifications and reach their goals. We're looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people, enjoys building positive relationships, and can adapt their teaching approach to meet diverse learning needs.
What you'll be doing:
Deliver engaging lessons using learner-centred teaching approaches.
Provide academic guidance, pastoral support, and encouragement to Youth Guarantee learners.
Prepare and adapt teaching resources to suit a range of learning styles and delivery methods.
Assess learner work, provide timely feedback, and support students to achieve successful outcomes.
Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to programme reporting.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and support services to create a positive, engaging learning environment.
What you'll bring:
Experience teaching young people is essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners.
The ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
Hold an Adult Teaching qualification (NZ Certificate in Adult & Tertiary Training Level 4 or equivalent, NZ Certificate in Adult & Tertiary Teaching Level 5, and NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Level 5), or be willing to work towards these with Skills Group's support.
Hold Unit Standard 4098 (Assessment of Learning, Adult Education and Training), or be willing to obtain it with Skills Group's support as part of your professional development.
