Ready to step off the tools or reduce your time on them without leaving the electrical or PGD industry?

Skills Trades Training is building a talent pool of experienced registered electricians and certified plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying professionals who may be interested in helping develop the next generation of tradespeople.

You might be looking for a career change now, considering your options over the next 6–12 months, or simply interested in learning what becoming an Industry Trainer involves.

No previous teaching experience is required. We provide training and support to help experienced tradespeople transition into teaching.

  • Are New Zealand registered electricians or certified PGD professionals with current industry knowledge

  • Have experience supervising, mentoring or developing apprentices or colleagues

  • Communicate clearly and enjoy sharing their knowledge

  • Are open to developing their skills as an adult educator

  • May be interested in permanent, fixed-term, part-time or casual opportunities, subject to future business needs

  • Could potentially provide short-term cover or work across more than one location
